Since September 2001 Beatrix Ruf is the director/curator of the Kunsthalle Zürich in Switzerland. Besides that she is an free lance curator; in 2008 for instance she is co curator of the Yokohama Triennial, Japan, in 2007 the Lyon Biennial and in 2006 the Tate Triennial for the Tate Britain, London.
Previously, she has been director/curator of the Kunsthaus Glarus, and between 1994 and 1998 she was curator at the Kunstmuseum of the Canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. She is also curator of the Ringier collection, boardmember of the Schweizerische Graphische Gesellschaft (SGG) and editor of the publishing house JRP/Ringier.
Beatrix Ruf has organized exhibitions and has written several essays on contemporary artists, such as Jenny Holzer, Marina Abramovic, Liam Gillick, Urs Fischer, Keith Tyson, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Pierre Huyghe/Philippe Parreno, Rodney Graham, Isa Genzken, Doug Aitken, Wilhelm Sasnal, de Rijke/de Rooij, Rebecca Warren, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, John Armleder, Daria Martin, and many others.
