Liam Gillick

Born in 1964, Aylesbury, United Kingdom
Lives and works in London and New York

Liam Gillick is involved in an ongoing investigation of how varied power structures leave traces within the forms of the built world. Using various media – physical structures, texts and short films – he has examined how the legacy of progressive developments in the aesthetics and structure of the urban fabric affect social relationships and vice versa. His recent work has questioned the forms, both literal and rhetorical, that post-war social democracies develop to accompany new models of collective production and social interaction.
